Jerry Clower the comedian joined the Navy during WWII when he was 18.
Here is the story he told about riding the train to Camp Perry, Virginia.
Of my 7 uncles, 6 served in WWII. By the grace of God, they all came home, but they never came back to the farm after having seen and done more in the first few months of service than they had in all their life at the dairy.
Those farm boys did us proud.
