A lot of the area that the drum is frozen on is where it touches the hub. Other than that, it is only the brake shoes. Pull the drum and hub as a unit, and you are ONLY fighting the shoes. Once off, they are much easier to separate. And yes, once the hub and drum are off, the shoes, wheel cylinder etc are all wide open in all their glory! Trust me on this one, pull the hub and you will be a believer!
