Valve Adjustment

I think it time to check my valave adjustments on my 230 engine. I know the best is with a hot engine but I would like to do the adjustment on a cold one to keep the burned hands down. They must have set them cold on new and rebuilt engines. What setting should I use on the intake and exhaust on a cold engine. Truck gets minimal use. Thanks
