I've tried all sorts of ways to sneak items home, but that line takes the cake for a truck.
I've brought home guns over the years and used various excuses. The loaner gun (your friend drops it off, says thanks for the loan), the parts gun (you take it apart, sneak in the pieces, then bring in the one last piece to finish your gun), the gun just like (sniff) dear old grandpa had, and so forth.
I had a really keen idea that I would collect guns that looked alike. So I collected 4" K-frame S&W (38/357) and 6" N-frames S&W (44). It went great for a while. Then one day I was playing with my new 22 PPK and my wife squinted from across the room and says "Is that your Nazi PPK or is that a new PPK?". You could have driven a PW through my gaping mouth. She then adds "And don't think I don't know about all the look alike guns you have either. You play with them too much and I now know all of them".
it was all downhill from there. Now she sees me with a new gun she just puts her hands on her hips and says "OK, start lying".
