Hi
thermostats cycle open and close. this is how hey are dosigned.
For example, my camper, 1987 Ford 460, 180 tstat, Will run at 180 to i hit a hill or step on it hard, the temp will go to 190 then back down to about 170, then up agian and down again until i hit level ground or take my foot out of it. then level off at 180 until the next big hill.
My WC dodge will cycle its T-stat during the 4th of july parade,
To see this, open the rad cap and block off the radiator with a piece of cardboard and watch the fluid. It will hardly move until the stat opens, then it will flow rather qickly until the stat shuts again. You can watch this cycle as often as you like.
If you t stat is sticking closed a little bit, tou will run warm and push coolant out the cap. I have had this happen to a few vehicles over the years
\ Good luck with it
Ernie
