I recently bought a 1996 Grand Cherokee straight 6 that has basically been in the family most of it's life. At about 100k a year ago my son sold it to a picky guy that lifted/locked it and changed all the fluids to synthetic (possibly bad timing). When I changed the engine oil, I noticed that it is leaking near the rear main, and the engine oil has dropped a quart in about 1k miles since I changed it. I have all the maintenance records since new, and I used the same synthetic oil as the previous owner. Do any of you folks know if a new rear seal can be installed without removing the auto trans., and how dificult it is? Or, any other solutions to stop the leak
