check the rear rubber brake fluid hose that connects the steel line to the tee on the rear differential. When a hose goes bad it sometimes acts like a check valve and lets fluid go one way causing the brake shoes to stay extended and will make the drums get very hot. Just an idea. Sounds like it is time for a complete brake system inspection.
