Data plate restoration

Does anyone know of anyone that restores original data plates? I have the one on my trailer I want to rehab, and the one from the PW has an obnoxious green paint on it. I tried calcium lime remover, very light fine steel wool, all it did was somewhat remove the paint on the trailer plate.

I'd really like to keep these plates and not replace them with new, as the good ol' "they are original" thing comes to mind.
