Dave, I think,(and I could be wrong) that the only difference between 3 and 4 is the boil point. the boil point over the years has become higher and higher as the fluids improve. I have a can of three that came from my dads place that is in excess of thirdy years old, the boil point is quite a bit lower than the three of today. so the difference may be nothing more than the boil point!
