Hi Steve,
Were they bent or straight?
I've seen straight bronze ones...I don't believe they were original but I could be proven wrong. If yours were angled I guess it's possible they came from Dodge that way.
My blue 46 WDX was a very early truck & it had cast iron 45 degree tailight bracket from new on the LH side. It had many bronze brackets on the chassis & all the typical early 46 differences but the tailight bracket was iron. The two other brackets I've had have also been iron & both off 48's.
Once I have the pattern made, if someone wants a bronze pair, I can get them to do a run in bronze but my preference would be iron.
I know some strange things were cast in bronze, like the early PTO pillow block & cover I got from Ken Sterrett...but I'd definitely say this was not normal & only very early parts.
I wouldn't really want to do them at the bronze foundry I used here...they were way too brittle. I still need 2 more orders & if we can't get them...I'll happily send my brackets to you or Clint if you guys think the foundries in your area use a bendable form of cast bronze & you have the time to look after it?
