NP435 to NP 540 conversion problems

I have a 65 W500 with a factory np435 4 speed and a pto with the offset adapter to drive the front winch. It went out(tranny) and I bought a NOS NP 540 5 speed to replace it with. Now I got the new 5 speed home and I find that the new 5 speed will NOT ACCEPT the old 4 speed pto, both are same bolt hole pattern but the new 5 speed has a different gear to drive the old 4 speed pto?

My question is this, on the W500s that came factory with the 5 speed np 540 what pto/spacer drop down does it take to run the factory front winch? Does anybody have a way I can use a np 540 5 speed with drop down pto to drive the front winch? I have a W500 that came with the 4 speed and that pto offset adapter/spacer that bolts to the 4 speed that lets it drop down to clear the tranmission crossmember. Jerry W500, could you post those pictures of your W500 pto set up and comment if your truck was a 4 speed or 5 speed from the factory please? Thanks for all comments, I will be posting side by side 435 vs 540 pictures tormorrow so please keep looking for them. I might be in the market for a another 4 speed transmssion like I had and just return the np540 NOS if i can not get it going. Does anybody know what the difference is between a NP 435 w100 w 200 w300 w500 transmissions?? It is just the larger input shaft on the W500 in the 4 speed versions??
