The tires guys call them "split rims", even though they're not, and I don't feel like explaining to them that they're really "lock ring" wheels. Likewise, most people call any old green army truck a "Jeep", and slightly more knowledgeable guys call any old army truck larger than a jeep a "weapons carrier", and will also try to tell you that "WC" stands for "Weapons Carrier". The cop who inspected the VIN on my W300 Bell Telephone pole setting truck insisted that it was a military truck, because it was green and he was sure they had them when he was in the army.
People call things the wrong thing all the time. What are you going to do?
