I'll always remember when I was a youngster, I broke a long axle on an M37. The axle was broke way in at the inner spline & no way to hook it & I didn't want to pull the whole assembly apart. I was horsing around for about an hour trying different ideas & then I came up with this hair-brain idea to push a broom handle into the housing & hit the handle with a hammer...to try to bounce the remaining piece out. Well...since the broom handle was wood it just absorbed all the shock but when I pulled the broom handle out...there was the jagged stub stuck to the end of the handle :)
Try it next time...maybe you'll get lucky too :)
