I had this set up on my 57 Plymouth in college. It runs great on a 318 Poly. You are running 500cfm all the time though. Mileage wasn't an issue in the Jurasic period. I believe they come in different cfm models. Howard would know. They use a 4 barrel air cleaner.
2 barrel Holley 4412 500 cfm Holley 2300. Google Holley 2300 for info.
Use adapter no. 85R-3583 for 318's and early chevs
A Wieand 7503 manifold and a Carter 500cfm on my 64 PWTW ran really well. Fuel economy is much better if you can stay out of the secondaries. I got 20mpg on a junk run once at 50-55mph (4.10s)! I have a brand new Holley 600cfm 4bbl. that I haven't tied yet.
