If your family income is over $250,736 annually, you're in the top 1%
If your family income is over $108,048 annually, you're in the top 5%
The top 1% accounts for 17.4% of total adjusted gross income
The top 5% accounts for 31.8% of total adjusted gross income
The top 1% pays 33.2% of all personal income taxes
The top 5% pays 51.9% of all personal income taxes
The top 50% pays roughly 96% of all personal income taxes
The bottom 50% pays the remaining 4%
So, am I to understand that it is the 50% who pay only 4% of the personal income taxes that are the ones who need tax relief?
