im sure you can get the old seals to work most of the time. when you have to do a job over, the cheap cost of the seal isnt cheap any more. oddly enough, the leaks i have from older style seals (ones i didn't change or find new equivalents) don't bother me too much. if i had a new seal leak, i would lose sleep until i tore it all apart.
