Most common cause of over heating Thermostat if the stat has been dry i scrap it and when i put a new one in i test it on some new vehilces its a 5 or 6 hour job these days > lose bonding of the core fins to the water tubes easy to detect > pluged rad tubes are filled with sediment or other feel front of rad for warm and cool spots > lose fan belts can lead to over heating > incorect ignition timing also > reaching on this one retriction in exhaust ie heat riser stuck closed or baffles collapesed in the muffler > i have heard of bad worn and loose implers on the water pump but personally in 50 years near seen one my self > the water pump is of a centrifical design water is thrown out and dosent generate enough pressure to measure more like 2 to 3 pounds or more like pouring a pail of water quickly > take out the stat go for a spin ~ Copey let us know please
