Did you look at or change the oil filter? I remember back I think around 1990 or so people were saying you had to use only the cummins or dodge oil filter as others would disintergrate and clog the oil spray holes on the sides of the connecting rod depriving the cylinders of oil. Could have been an urban legend though.
