I have just acquired a mopar six cyl. engine. it has a two one barrel intake on it that is in very good condition w/two carbs that look good also. I at first thought it was a 230, but then found the casting date which was 2/25/37, the block number is p43327238* ( I think, lots of rust) it was cast on the night shift at 9pm. the man I got the engine from said they removed it from a desoto but didn't say what year. is there a possiblity this is a 218? the head is 23inches long so it's one or the other it's got the old foot starter on the engine with a tiny three speed tranny behind it. the distribiter has a cute little brass grease cup on the side. there should be someone out there with access to the book to decipher the numbers. if it's a 230 I'll rebuild it and have a spare motor. someone help please.
