Amp gauge question

I replaced my gauges today and I think I used the same amp gauge that was in it and just changed to face from black to white.(62D300) and now the amp gauge and lights pulse at low rpms??? could I have damaged the amp gauge casuing this problem? I always thought the reg would cause pulsation??
