what a flat rate mechanic can or would do. For some guys here, adjusting the valves is a first time experience....and maybe the only time they will ever need to do it. It does not matter if it takes 15 minutes or 4 hours, its all in doing the job correctly. And some engine manufactures direct to adjust the valves cold. Now, my opinion...finding a 'good' mechanic at a dealership is almost impossible. The are parts changers, who shotgun a repair to get it out the door. The service manager at the 5 Star dealer in the mountains told me that he really has no one really able to get into serious diesel repairs. I have seen this shotgun approach on my 03 Ram when in under warantee repairs. What a joke.
