We let the smoke out of two Dc 1000 Linc. last weekend. They wern't even turned on but we smoked six snubbers on the output scr boards. The parts were varisters rated at 400v and we couldn't find the .25$ part anywhere so had to overnight air the boards out of Ohio. What they seem to do is not mark the components so you can't get them from an electronics outfit.
We think there was a grounded leg on a high voltage light on the plant that fed back thru the welder ground lead to earth ground.
There is thousands of hours on there machines and this was our first problem.
