Yes it will work- for a while. But the mis-match will burn the points, making a deposit on one side. Which side depends on whether it's too much or not enough MFDs.
Another condenser tid bit- a new one is more likely to suffer infant mortality than an old one is to die. No need to change it every time the points wear down.
Ad the major place for points to wear is the rubbing block. As long as you can file them flat, set the dwell/gap, and set timing, those are good to go too.
