I have a 1991 with 200K miles. It has never given me any major trouble, except with the brakes, which need constant adjustment, but that's a Dodge thing, not a Cummins problem.
I change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles and use Shell Rotella 10W40.
The cab is rusting out, but the engine just keeps on goin.
I get 21 mpg around town and over 25 on the highways, going 75 mph.
I plug the heater in during our frigid nights, (sometimes it hits +10 degrees) and I have installed a waterproof trickle charger, designed for boats, to ensure consistent starts.
I would buy another new 1991 CTD right now, if my time machine wasn't in the shop.
