Degnerative neck disc means I can't slam the hood with a jerk. I love the auto thing. But when it comes to the itty bitty spark from the 110v Mig, I can't see squat.
I know my eyes ain't what they used to be, but geeze, I can't see a 1/16 gap between the parts. Tried adjusting the dial from 9-13, no help.
I do know the the numbers are only the amount of VISIBLE light filtered out, the UV and IR are filterd by the glass, so I'm wondering what's the range of "numbers" will good eyes adjust over?
Then, do the Chinese auto hoods block the wrong visible light freq?
Tomorrow I'll dig out the old fashioned hood, and try it. Maybe the Chinese #9 is more like a US # 12? Take it apart and put in a bigger rheostat?
