I will offer you a new way to look at this, and particularly so if this person has ever sought my advice.

I frequently have people ask for advice on how they should price their truck. Years ago I learned never to do that. We are not selling something here that exists in large enough quantities to develop well established price lines. Too much has to do with how bad the potential buyer wants it and how much ability to pay they have at their core.

Quite literally, I am contacted by widows and surviving children. How do I sell Dad's or Grandpa's truck? I want to help those people the best I can, and I give them their ad for free, just like you.

I am particularly disgusted by the accounts I am offered where a group of friends decides to work an unsuspecting seller. Two of the friends phones and offers really low, then the third calls and offers low. The unsuspecting seller is duped by people with no ethics or scruples. I caution the hypothetical widow or survivor to not price, take your time, and work this for you, not someone else.

I know if I tell someone a figure too high they are upset with me if it does not sell. I know if I tell someone a figure too low they are upset with me if it sells too soon. Could have gotten more….

Clearly, advising people in pricing is fertile ground for irritation and upset.

What do I tell people in general? Take offers. Take your time. Learn the market. Don't hurry. That goes for buying and selling. You can't imagine how many people who have been in this hobby for a long time have called me years ago with lots of what is it worth kind of questions. For buying, mostly, but also selling.

My point? I would not be suspicious of someone asking for offers. They are being careful. They should be careful, and you should be too. If you don't like them not pricing, then don't play. This is an adult's game; really, it is no game.

We enjoy our hobby, and in certain circumstances we lament how far prices have risen, and we may also have opportunity to delight in how far prices have risen, if we are the beneficiary.

I don't know who this seller is, but I don’t think he deserves abuse or sarcasm, I think he deserves respect. It looks like a nice truck.
