If modern radial tires are so fragile that they have a lifespan of only 6 years (even without use), wouldn't retreading be the absolute LAST thing you would want to do to them? I would think that if a tire is worn enough to require retreading, it has been used hard and probably very near the end of its 6-year lifespan. I can see over-the-road big rig tires accumulating this kind of wear in a short period of time, but on an off-road tire, that is crazy! Also, what kind of damage is the retreading process going to do to the carcass?
Thanks for the link Dave. I think I will stick with my 1968 dated Mohawk 9.00x16 NDT bias ply tires.
