They both used offset rear differentials, the Jeep used it up to 1971. The Wagoneers that used the Quadratrac full-time system all had offset. Both of these offset to the passenger side as the PW does. Do they break the short shaft more than the long? Not that this would rule out the same sort of chassis dynamics being a contributor if so.
