Clint's chart lists the GGW-6001B 35-amp generator and VAV-6001A regulator as standard eqipment, and the GGU-6001E 55-amp generator and VAV-6001B regulator as extra equipment on my 1954 C1PW with VIN #83939635.
My truck came with a 40-amp generator with a small generator pulley installed. We replaced the small pulley with a larger stock pulley off a spare generator.
I just picked up a NOS voltage regulator by Wizard, part #L-3671. It is listed as fitting all Dodge Trucks 1949-55 with GGW & GGU Generators (1949-1955). I have not installed it yet.
Since I have been having charging problems, here are my questions:
1. Is there any relaton between pulley size and charging rate? Did we make a mistake swapping out the smaller pulley?
2. Can the same regulator work with different amp generators ranging from 35 to 55 amps? If so, why did Dodge have two different regulators?
3. Are regulators adjustable to match the amperage of the generator? Will I need to adjust the regulator to the 40 amp generator or get a different regulator?
Thanks.
