Get a good ohm meter and start checking the wiring for shorts. Is your wiring harness the original from 1948? If so, it is rubber insulation covered with cloth. I have dealt with two trucks with this type wire. It took several rolls of electric tape before I just replaced the wires. Takes a while to install, but it is worth it.

The second thing you can do is send me an airline ticket and I will come out and fix it for you!
