No nut. The diaphragm is staked on. And no slot in the rod. The rod goes through a round hole in the lever. I will probably have to switch to another pump, but since I already ordered the kit, I might as well wait until I get it. It might have instructions in it, or maybe I can figure out from the new parts how it comes apart.
