There is a bolt that goes through the center strip that also goes through one of the holes in the hat channel. If it does not line up....... there is a problem. Did you replace your center strips?

The picture above is of my 1955 C-3-PW, second series, 2nd edition. Yours should be similar with the 5 center strips.
