Eric, it seems like the whole plastic piece is missing as well as the pointer assembly. Maybe what I should do is take it apart first, give it a test, then decide what I need to do. If things are bad enough I suppose I will need a new to me speedo.
Do you happen to have a picture of a speedometer from 1948. This particular speedometer was not attached to the dash board when I received the truck so I want to make sure it is the correct one.
