I may take you up on that. For now, I just want to get the truck running so I can move it around, so if I can get a fan belt that fits it and makes the generator generate, even if it has to be reved up a bit, that'll be okay. It won't be any easier to swap out a crank pulley now than later. In the long run, I do want the military pulley. I wonder why they used a larger one. Was it that they wanted to make the fan go faster so they'd have maximum cooling capacity? Does the generator not work at the slower RPMs? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the generator kicks in at 1200 RPM, which it should easily achieve even at idle speed with the civilian crank pulley since that (small) pulley is still twice the diameter of the generator pulley.
At least now I know that the 56" belt in the PIF is right for a stock M37, even though it's loose on my truck. I'll pick up the 52" today and hopefully that'll do it for now.
