Sounds like a good plan.
Keep your eyes open on ebay, this forum, Gordon's (PWA) forum), and the PWA magazine (because some people only list stuff there, not the internet).
1st series beds do come up from time to time, and they are easier to find then the 2nd series beds, especially.
