How do you get the front (pulley end) bearing out of a military 25 amp generator? I've pulled the pulley off the shaft, removed the end cap and armature from the housing, and taken all the screws out of the small cover plate where the shaft goes in, but it appears there's a shoulder on the shaft that's blocking me from sliding it out. I've (gently) pounded on the end of the shaft with a rubber hammer while holding onto the end cap, but it won't budge. What's the trick?
