I talked to Floyd Lindsay at Braden some years ago and this is what he told me about the LU-2. Gary
Braden LU2, PTO, 10,000lbs, 38:1 ratio
New version is ALU2 with teflon coated handle and they still carry parts
Dodge rated @ 8,000lbs
Military derated to @ 6400lbs
Braden rates @ 10,000lbs.
Recomended cable: Soft Core (easier to spool and deal with) or Steel (Stronger)
7/16: Spool takes 150ft.
3/8: Spool takes 220ft. (this in soft core was recomended)
5/16: Spool takes 300ft.
I was going to look into woven nylon cable available which is stronger and winds more cable
