The housings are different for sure, one is cast iron, and the other is aluminum.
If the guts are the same, which I have never checked, maybe the different materials for the housing changes the rating?
In any case, given how relatively common the LU2 is I would not bother to put an MU2 on a Power Giant, it just sounds like a lot of extra work.
