Differential carrier cap

Any special way af getting the cap off the differential carrier? I searched the archives and read that it turns off counter clockwise. I made a tool out of a piece of pipe and heated the carrier tried to turn with a long bar and hit with hammer while tring to get loose after several trys and bending bar I gave up.
