PTO Question

I have a 58 with synchronize transmission (or I am told it is. I haven't driven it enough to know and haven't pulled the PTO plate off to see) I have a PTO with a single beveled gear that I am planning to put on it. I have also seen a PTO with a beveled gear and a straight cut gear side by side. It's supposedly from a 57 with synchronize - casing stamped Arrow Gear Corp. Which is correct?
