the problem with ALL flats heads is lubrication of the valves and the disipation of heat just about any flat head left to sit, the valves will stick > on the other hand over head valve engines have a oil supplie to the very top of the valve stems and some oil passes down past the valve seals to (In a controlled manner) to lube the valve guides and the valve stems > plus the lack of leaded gas which helps lube the valves is not ready available > my own personal prefence in all the old iron i run today, that was to run on leaded gas i simply add two stoke oil to the tank at about a hundred to one ratio / half of what my sthil chains saws use and stuck valves dont surface any more ? but this is my belief and you may not experince the same results > but i still run and fix a lot of flat heads in the area "old" stuff ~ j
