I was thinking along the same lines today, Although I was thinking of tying a piece of polypropylene rope to a couple of trees upstream and let it float on the surface. That would snag these mats and hold them in place upstream, then I could let them go through at my choosing, when there were no beaver dame under the bridge to snag them.
Found out today that a landowner about 3/4 of a mile downstream has a big beaverdam on his property. Unfortunately its not harming anything of his so he is kind of ambivalent about it. Now Copeys dynamite idea might be good there!
