230 BACKING PLATE

I put the timeing chain backing plate on the engine and notice I beleaved to be a stripped hole. I was wondering if the backing plate itself is threaded. The hole I refer to is the first in a series of three, from left to right, holes that attach to the "oil pan front end seal plate."
