i once saw a catapilar engine (stationary gen set ) that was so big, that the starter was a a 302 cubic inch ford v8 . you got the 302 up to 3000 rpm. Pulled back on the decompression lever on the cat . Then you engaged the clutch on the 302 which was reduced down ( i cant remember how much reduction )then the cat rolled over and the ford slowed down. Then you let go on the decompression lever once the cat was turning 200 rpm and now the cat roared to life, this engine just fit in 53 foot trailer and noisey ~J
