Carb and dist can be mis-matched.

Personally, I would go with the vacuum dist and anydamn carb. Then power-jet the carb- go to leaner and leaner jets, until you have lean surge probs, then fatten them up until the surge is gone.

Quadra-jet jets work in the Carter's if you file them down in length. Otherwise, they will bottom out against a ball-plug.
