every time I watch the news there are strikes demonstrations poverty, ghetto stories about the USA. I guess in the USA there are the same things aired about Canada. The fact is that the big industries such as steel, auto, heavey equipt are leaving America (as in North America) most is going off shore. Caterpillar have been making stuff overseas for decades. Marty mentioned about the quality of steel he got from Asia. We all need to smarten up.
I listened to guys bragging about how much they got for screwing on door lock knobs & then collected EI while the model year switched over & my mechanics were getting 30% less & actually knew something & spent 5 years doing it at apprentice wages. Think I am pro union??? In the 60s the union tried to get into the dealerships in Toronto, we were real quick to get them out of there. We worked flat rate (for ourselves) Did repairs fixed any comebacks for free. We were basically in business for ourselves & liked it. I agree with most of what you say but don`t think the unions in Canada are near as strong as in the USA & most are based in the USA. We are in the footsteps of "big brother" GB
