The same hub/drum part number is used on the W300 dual rear wheel, and the D300 dual or single wheel. The W300 single rear wheel has a different hub/drum.

So you need a pair of axles from a 1961-68 W300 single rear wheel truck.

That will solve your problem.

Anything else sounds like more work then it is worth.

Though I would still be curious how much of a problem you really have since the books show the front axle tread width of a 1964 D300 is one inch wider then the front axle tread width of a 1964 W300.
