This is a 1958 W100 with a 7 1/2 foot Utiline bed. This bed with the fenders you see removed, and the station wagon sides added is basically a Sweptside bed. But it is still just a Utiline.

The Utiline bed in the 1957-60 era came in a few sizes, and 2 widths.

1957-58 6 1/2 foot long, narrow beds (these used a different tailgate then all the rest of the beds).

1959-60 6 1/2 foot wide bed (these used the same tailgate as the longer beds).

1957-60 7 1/2 foot bed

1957-60 9 foot bed

1957-60 8 foot bed (K6-W300 to WM300s only)

I would call this a Utiline bed on a 1957-60 truck, though the common name for that era is Power Giant, and there is a lot of reference to that name in the literature. But the Power Giant name seems to run until at least 1962, so even though the name is useful, it could confuse some people.

I use the name Power Giant on my website, but it is just a way to define an era among those in the know. I am not sure it is technically correct to call 1957-60 the Power Giant era, as obviously the owners manuals claimed that the 1961-62 trucks were also Power Giants.

I hope these pictures and my text helped clear things up a little bit, let me know if you need to see more detail shots, or need anything else explained.

Eric
