Stripping a truck to a bare frame may appear daunting, it really is not.
I buy boxes of the large 1 gallon size zip lock bags. As I take things apart, the nuts/bolts/small parts go into the zip lock bag. I use a magic marker and write on the bag the assembly the parts came from. If I find bad or questionable fasteners, they are tossed out, but the size and number is marked on the bag as missing.
When it comes time to assemble the project, I go thru all the bags, make a list of fasteners needed. These fasteners are then added to the bags where missing. I am to far from any place to buy quality fasteners. By doing this method, I make one run, buy the fasteners needed and can assemble without needing any more fasteners. I just grab the bag or bags for the assembly I am doing and I know all fasteners are there.
I dont restore for a faithful original. As Marty shares, if you want all original fasteners, cad plated etc, then this method is not the best.
I like Keith, dont take many pictures. I have done enough trucks, its sort of a automatic assembly. But for your first one, document it with precise pictures and notes.
