Then our PIF is also wrong, since it says 2 degrees retarded. I just dug out a Chrysler 6-cylinder industial engine factory manual I have, and it says 2-1/2 degrees advanced, with no note about adjusting for elevation. I'll also try the vacuum method and see where it gets me. Don't want to wreck the motor as it's a good tight one, but would like to improve the fuel economy as much as possible. Also there was a lot of carbon in the cylinders when I had the head off.
